The many benefits of apple cider vinegar have been studied by medical professionals and are well-documented in various studies that have been carried out. Some of the benefits that have been found include skin care, allergies, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, diabetes, gout, the flu, heartburn, sore throats, and high cholesterol.
With any condition, preventative care is always best. Because the top three causes of death in the United States are heart disease, diabetes, and stroke, it’s vital that people know what they can be doing to prevent them.
Here are 4 reasons to love apple cider vinegar:
1. Diabetes Prevention
A study published in 2007 by Diabetes Care discovered that patients who had Type II diabetes had much better sugar levels in the mornings when they took 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before they went to bed. This is because of the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar.
Acetic acid is what causes the pungent taste and smell of apple cider vinegar, but what it does inside your body is even more impressive. Tokyo University’s Nobumasa Ogawa, Ph.D. found that acetic acid can inhibit several enzymes that are responsible for breaking down carbohydrates in the blood. When
acetic acid is in the intestines, it actually prevents some of these sugars from being digested which means they don’t even make it into the blood stream.
2. Improved Weight Loss
In 2009, there was a study done with overweight people who added acetic acid to their daily regimen for 12 weeks. They all experienced dramatic results in their overall body weight, waist size, abdominal fat, and triglyceride levels.
Dr. D. C. Jarvis, M. D. from Vermont recommends taking 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water prior to every meal. Another home weight loss remedy is from Patricia Bragg, who recommends 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 – 2 teaspoons of raw honey with water before meals.
It is important for those looking for weight loss results to understand that weight loss is aided by apple cider vinegar, and it is something that must be done regularly over a period of time before the results are seen.
3. Decreased Cholesterol and Blood Pressure
Two of the leading causes of heart disease are high blood pressure and high cholesterol. When the two are combined, it is particularly dangerous, but apple cider vinegar can help to lower both blood pressure and bad cholesterol levels. Studies that have been done on rats have shown that the acetic acid that is found in apple cider vinegar can help to decrease cholesterol and blood pressure.
4. Balance Your Body’s pH
Many people believe that because our blood is slightly alkaline, having a normal pH between 7.35 and 7.45, which has led to the popularity of the alkaline diet. The idea is that because our blood and body is slightly alkaline, we should eat to reflect that. It is further theorized that acidic foods cause decreased energy, increased production of mucous, infections, mood swings and anxiety, headaches, sore throats, and allergic reactions, to name a few.
Although it is acidic, apple cider vinegar is supposed to have an alkalinizing effect on your body. Proponents of this diet encourage drinking 1 to 2 teaspoons in a glass of water every day to help balance out the pH level in your body.
If you are one of the many people who don’t want to deal with the taste of apple cider vinegar but do want the health benefits, you can add it to fresh juice. Making your own fresh fruit and vegetable juice is a great way to get healthy and stay healthy. Fruits and vegetables are some of the most important foods that you need to be healthier because of the vitamins and minerals they contain.
Your body can only be as healthy as the foods you put into it. That’s why it’s important to choose fresh and organic fruits and vegetables that are high in nutrients and low in harmful chemicals. Juicing fruits and vegetables is an easy way to get the amount of these nutrients, and can sometimes be an even more efficient way to deliver them to your body.
